Best CRM for small nonprofits: seven options with prices checked on vendor pages

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerThere is no single best CRM for small nonprofits. Little Green Light is the low-cost donor database we would look at first, Givebutter and Salesforce have $0 routes, and Less Annoying CRM fits follow-up work, not gifts.

Seven CRMs for small nonprofits and what they cost

The best CRM for a small nonprofit depends on whether you mainly record gifts or mainly manage relationships. For gifts on a tight budget, Little Green Light at $45 per month with unlimited users is the option we would look at first. For follow-up with volunteers and partners, a general tool such as Less Annoying CRM at $15 per user can be enough. Prices below were read on each vendor's own pricing page on 3 October 2026 and can change.

The job a small nonprofit CRM has to do

A CRM for nonprofits has four jobs: hold one record per supporter, record gifts and thank donors, show who has lapsed, and let several staff or board members see the same history. Some tools add volunteer hours and event tracking.

Purpose-built tools cover the gift side. Little Green Light lists acknowledgments, receipts, memberships, grants and volunteer hours. Bloomerang lists giving summaries, major gift tracking and reporting dashboards. General CRMs cover the relationship side and leave gifts to you.

Worked example: two staff and 1,500 supporter records

Take an office with two people who need logins and 1,500 records.

Where Less Annoying CRM fits and where it does not

Less Annoying CRM fits a nonprofit whose main need is follow-up: volunteer inquiries, partner contacts, board prospects, in-kind supporters. It offers groups, pipelines, tasks, a daily agenda email and logged email on one plan, with a 30-day trial. The vendor's nonprofit template tracks donation opportunities as pipeline stages.

It does not fit a nonprofit that needs tax receipts, acknowledgment letters, online donation forms that take payment or giving reports. None of those appear in its feature pages. It also has no discount for nonprofits. For those needs choose Little Green Light, or Bloomerang if the budget allows. For volunteer shifts and hours, see our volunteer management software page.

A pick for each type of small nonprofit

  • All-volunteer group with no software budget: Givebutter's free CRM, or one of the other free CRM options for nonprofits.
  • Small staffed office that records gifts: Little Green Light.
  • Growing development team focused on donor retention: Bloomerang CRM, after a written quote.
  • Organization with technical help and plans to scale: Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud through its no-cost licenses.
  • Program team that manages people, not gifts: Less Annoying CRM.

Whichever you choose, run a short trial with real records first. Our trial plan lists what to test.
